A 2 alarm fire started in the basement of this 2-story home at 484 Valley Forge. Unsure what the exact cause was, but it was called in originally as a battery fire in the basement and upon arrival, there was heavy black smoke coming from the home.

One South Elgin Firefighter Chris Lee appeared to collapse when coming out of the home and taking his helmet and mask off. St. Charles paramedics checked him out at the scene, as well as a couple of other firefighters.
