(Taken from the Police Beat in the Daily Herald) An Elgin man was accused of drunken driving after he rear-ended another car at 2:30 p.m. Monday at State and Locust streets, police said. Nicholas Aleman, 38, of 635 Cookane Ave., was charged with three counts of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and two counts of drunken driving, police said. He also was cited for driving while license suspended, no insurance, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and disobeying a no passing zone, police said. According to the Kane County state's attorney's office, Aleman has 26 previous convictions, mostly for minor traffic offenses. Aleman was held in the Kane County jail on $25,000 bond with a Dec. 26 court date at the Kane County Judicial Center.
